What we build with PostgreSQL
PostgreSQL is the system of record under most business software JK Tech Hub builds. When money, stock or people records are involved, this is the database we reach for. From Rajkot we deliver:
- Databases for accounting and GST billing, payroll and inventory systems, where transactions, constraints and audit trails are non-negotiable.
- Backends for multi-tenant SaaS products with row-level security so one customer can never see another's data.
- Reporting databases and read replicas for ERP systems, with materialised views that turn slow month-end reports into instant ones.
- Migrations from MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server and Access databases, including data cleanup and reconciliation reports so nothing goes missing.
- Performance rescue for existing applications: query analysis, indexing, connection pooling with PgBouncer and schema fixes.
We work with Prisma, TypeORM, Django ORM and hand-written SQL, deploy on AWS RDS or self-managed servers, and hand over with a documented schema, automated backups and a restore procedure that has actually been tested.
When PostgreSQL is the right choice, and when it is not
PostgreSQL is the right choice for structured business data: anything with relationships, totals that must balance, concurrent edits and reports that join many tables. It handles JSON columns well enough that most "we need a document store" requirements are met without a second database, it has full-text search, geospatial extensions and time-series options, and it is free, mature and hosted by every cloud. For an Indian SME building a billing, ERP or CRM system it is the safe default.
It is the wrong choice when:
- The data is truly schema-less and document-shaped, such as varied product catalogues or event streams at very high write rates. MongoDB fits better.
- You need a mobile app backend with real-time sync and offline support in days rather than weeks. Firebase is the faster path for that first version.
- The application is a simple content website. The CMS's own database is sufficient.
- Your hosting is a basic shared plan that only offers MySQL. It is not worth changing hosts for a small site.
Choosing a database is a decision about the shape of your data, not about which technology is newer, and our proposals explain the choice in those terms.
Cost and timeline for PostgreSQL projects
Basic PostgreSQL work, meaning schema design, indexing, a managed instance on AWS RDS or a server of your own, backups and monitoring, starts at ₹25,000 and takes one to three weeks. A standard engagement such as the database layer for a complete application, or a migration from MySQL or Oracle with data validation, starts at ₹80,000 and takes four to twelve weeks. Enterprise projects involving high-availability replication, large legacy migrations, multi-tenant designs or performance rescue of a production system start at ₹2,50,000 and run eight to sixteen weeks.
Hosting is separate and modest: a managed PostgreSQL instance for a typical business application costs ₹2,000 to ₹8,000 per month on AWS, and self-hosting on an existing server can be close to free. Ongoing management covering query tuning, backup verification and capacity planning is available monthly.
Quotes are fixed-price against a written scope, with three months of support included, and overseas clients receive the same quote in their own currency; see our international page.
