The 30+ SEO factors this audit checks (and what each one really means)

Every check below runs against the live HTML we fetch from your URL — no estimates, no cached data. The list is grouped so you can read the report top-down, fix the biggest problems first, and ignore the noise.

Title tag length & uniqueness

Google truncates titles past ~60 characters. Empty, duplicate or stuffed titles are the single biggest reason small-business sites lose ranking on otherwise solid pages.

Meta description present & length

Missing meta descriptions force Google to invent a snippet, which tanks click-through. Aim for 140–160 characters with a verb and a value claim in it.

Single H1, sensible H2/H3 hierarchy

One H1 per page. H2s mark sections; H3s sit inside them. Skipping levels confuses both Google and screen readers.

Image alt text on content images

Every meaningful image needs an alt attribute. Decorative images use empty alt="". Missing alts cost you image-search traffic and hurt accessibility scores.

Internal & external link health

We count internal links per page (target: 3–10), check anchor text variety, and flag external links missing rel="noopener" on target="_blank" — a security hole.

HTTPS & HSTS

HTTPS is a confirmed ranking signal since 2014. We also flag mixed content (HTTPS pages loading HTTP assets) which silently breaks padlock icons.

Canonical URL self-reference

Every indexable page should declare a canonical pointing at itself. Wrong canonicals are the most common cause of pages being silently de-indexed without an obvious error in GSC.

JSON-LD schema markup

We detect Organization, LocalBusiness, Article, Product, FAQ and Breadcrumb schema and flag malformed JSON-LD that Google will refuse to parse.

Open Graph & Twitter Cards

Drives social click-through, not Google ranking — but missing OG tags cost you 30–50% of LinkedIn and WhatsApp share traffic on B2B sites.

Mobile viewport meta

If this single tag is missing, Google's mobile-first index treats the page as desktop-only and ranks it accordingly. The fix is one line of HTML.

Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS)

Largest Contentful Paint < 2.5s, Interaction-to-Next-Paint < 200ms, Cumulative Layout Shift < 0.1. These are Google's public ranking thresholds since 2021.

Visible content word count

Pages under ~300 visible words rarely rank for competitive queries and are more likely to be classified as Soft 404 by Google. We flag thin pages explicitly.

Robots meta & X-Robots-Tag

We catch the dreaded "noindex" that someone left on a staging site after launch — a problem responsible for at least one ranking emergency a year on most sites.

Hreflang & language declaration

Critical if you serve India + UAE + UK from the same site. Wrong hreflang sends UAE customers to the Indian price page, which is a real revenue leak.

Sitemap & robots.txt presence

We probe /sitemap.xml and /robots.txt and flag common mistakes: blocking JS/CSS, disallowing the entire /blog directory, or pointing to a sitemap that doesn't exist.

GEO & AI search readiness

FAQ schema, scannable answer paragraphs, citation-friendly facts, and a clean semantic structure ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can quote. This is what separates sites that get cited by AI from sites that get ignored.

How to read your audit score

The score is a weighted percentage, not a grade. A site at 90+ has its fundamentals in order — fix the remaining items as time allows. 75–89 is the typical range for a well-built but not-yet-tuned Indian SMB site; the gains from here are usually quick wins. 60–74 means there are real ranking problems — expect missing meta descriptions, no schema, weak internal linking, or Core Web Vitals failing on mobile. Below 60 usually means something structural is wrong: the site was built without an SEO checklist, was migrated and lost half its tags, or is accidentally noindexed.

Inside the report, every item is colour-coded. Red items should be fixed first — they are either ranking blockers (noindex, missing canonical, broken hreflang) or cause Google to misclassify the page. Yellow items are quality issues — short titles, missing OG tags, slow LCP — that won't kill your ranking but cap how high you can climb. Green items confirm the basics are in place and don't need attention.

One important caveat: this audit checks on-page factors. Off-page factors — backlinks, domain authority, brand search volume, business listings — are not in the score. A site can score 95 and still rank poorly if the domain has no authority. A site can score 65 and rank fine if it has a decade of backlinks and a strong brand. Use this audit to fix the things you control directly; use Search Console and a backlink tool for the rest.

Top 5 SEO issues we find on Indian SMB websites

  1. 1. No meta descriptions on internal pages

Homepages usually have one; service pages, city pages and blog posts often don't. Google then auto-generates a snippet from random page text, which kills click-through rate. This is the single most common red flag in our audits.

  2. 2. JSON-LD schema completely missing

Roughly 7 in 10 Indian SMB sites we audit have zero structured data — no Organization, no LocalBusiness, no Breadcrumb. The cost is invisible: no rich snippets in Google, no knowledge panel, no AI search citations. Adding 100 lines of JSON-LD is the highest ROI fix on this list.

  3. 3. Slow LCP on mobile because of unoptimised hero images

A 1.5MB hero PNG served as-is from /uploads/. The fix is converting to AVIF/WebP, setting explicit width/height, and using next/image (or equivalent) so the browser can size it before the image loads. This single fix moves Lighthouse mobile scores by 20–30 points on most sites.

  4. 4. Wrong canonical URLs — usually pointing to homepage

A theme or migration leaves every page declaring a canonical that points at the homepage. Google then refuses to index any internal page. Pages mysteriously fall off Search Console's "valid" list with the status "Duplicate, Google chose different canonical". Fixing the canonical on the template instantly recovers the index.

  5. 5. Thin content on important commercial pages

Service pages with 80 words and a contact form. Pricing pages with a table and nothing else. Google increasingly classifies these as Soft 404, especially after the 2024 helpful content updates. The fix is content depth — methodology, examples, FAQs, testimonials — not keyword stuffing.

After the audit — what to fix first

Don't try to fix everything at once. The 80/20 sequence we recommend, in order, is: (1) ship a meta description and a unique title on every indexable page, (2) add Organization + LocalBusiness + Breadcrumb JSON-LD to the site-wide template, (3) fix any wrong canonicals and remove accidental noindex tags, (4) compress and lazy-load hero images so mobile LCP drops below 2.5 seconds, (5) add at least 300 words of useful, original content to every important commercial page.

Steps 1–3 take about a day for a small site and almost always recover lost rankings within a Google crawl cycle (1–3 weeks). Steps 4–5 take longer but compound — every fixed page becomes a permanent asset. If you want a hand executing this list, our team in Rajkot ships SEO retainers starting at ₹13,000 per month and includes the audit re-run as part of every monthly report.

Why every Indian business needs a free SEO audit in 2026

If you run a business in Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Surat or anywhere in India, your website is competing with thousands of others for the same Google searches. In 2026, getting on Google's first page — and being cited by AI search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google Gemini — is no longer optional. It's the difference between a website that brings you daily enquiries and one that's invisible. A free SEO audit is the fastest way to find out exactly where your site stands and what's holding it back from ranking.

What our free SEO audit tool checks

Our free website audit tool analyzes 30+ on-page SEO signals in under 60 seconds. It fetches your live HTML, runs it through the same checks used by paid tools like SEMrush and Ahrefs, and returns a detailed report. Here's what we examine:

  • Title tags & meta descriptions: length, uniqueness, keyword placement
  • Heading structure: H1, H2, H3 hierarchy — essential for Google to understand your content
  • Schema markup (JSON-LD): the structured data that lets AI search engines cite you
  • Image alt tags: missing alt text costs you image search traffic and accessibility
  • Core Web Vitals: LCP, FID, CLS — Google's official ranking factors since 2021
  • Mobile-friendliness & viewport: 70% of Indian traffic is mobile
  • HTTPS security, canonical URLs, Open Graph tags, Twitter Cards
  • GEO (Generative Engine Optimization): whether ChatGPT & Perplexity can read and cite your content

Why we added GEO (AI search) to this audit

Traditional SEO gets you listed on Google. But in 2026, more than 28% of B2B buyers are starting their research on AI search engines like ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews, and Gemini. If your website isn't structured for AI — with clear schema, FAQ blocks, comparison tables, and verifiable facts — you're invisible to this fast-growing audience. This is called Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and our audit flags exactly which parts of your site are AI-ready and which need improvement.

Is this free SEO audit tool accurate?

Yes. The tool fetches your actual website HTML server-side and analyzes real on-page SEO elements. For on-page SEO, it provides the same level of analysis as premium tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs and Screaming Frog. It does not currently check off-page factors like backlinks or domain authority — those require paid third-party APIs.

Is this SEO audit really free in India?

Yes — 100% free. No credit card, no trial, no signup required. We built this tool to help Indian businesses in Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and across India understand their website's SEO and AI search health. If you need professional help fixing the issues found, JK Tech Hub offers affordable SEO services starting at ₹13,000 per month.

What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and why is it included?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization — the practice of structuring your website so AI search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Gemini and Google AI Overviews can read, understand, and cite your business. In 2026, more than 28% of B2B buyers start their research on AI search instead of traditional Google. Our audit flags which parts of your site are GEO-ready and which need schema, FAQ, or structure improvements.

Can I use this SEO checker for my business in Rajkot / Ahmedabad / Mumbai?

Absolutely. The tool works for any website anywhere in the world, but it's especially useful for Indian businesses targeting local and global search — manufacturers, exporters, service providers, e-commerce stores, SaaS startups. JK Tech Hub is based in Rajkot, Gujarat and serves clients across India and internationally.

How do I improve my SEO score after the audit?

Focus on the red (failed) items first — they have the biggest impact. Common quick wins include adding a meta description, keeping titles 30-65 characters, adding alt text to all images, implementing JSON-LD schema markup, and ensuring HTTPS. For a complete SEO + GEO strategy with 5-8 content pages per month, contact JK Tech Hub for a free consultation.

Can I audit a competitor's website?

Yes. The tool works on any publicly accessible website — your own site, a competitor's site, or any page you're curious about. This is a great way to understand why a competitor ranks higher than you and what specific SEO improvements will close the gap.
