Quick Answer

Multi location local SEO is the work of making each branch rank in its own city or neighbourhood: one verified Google Business Profile per address, one location page per branch on a single website, identical name, address and phone details everywhere, and reviews collected branch by branch. For most Indian chains the right structure is one domain with a locations folder, not separate websites. Setup for 3 to 30 branches takes 4 to 8 weeks, and each branch usually enters its own map pack within 90 days.

This guide is for owners and marketing heads of Indian businesses with more than one address: a chain of clinics, a franchise with outlets in four states, a tile showroom with branches in Rajkot, Morbi and Ahmedabad, or a manufacturer with 40 dealers across Gujarat. After reading it you will be able to decide whether you need one website or several, how to structure location pages, who should hold profile access, and how to keep every branch ranking in its own city without the branches competing with each other.

What multi location local SEO is and why one profile is never enough

Google builds local results around the searcher, not the business. Someone searching for "dental clinic" in Jamnagar sees clinics near Jamnagar, ranked on relevance, distance and prominence. If your chain has one profile at the Rajkot head office, that profile is 90 km from the searcher and will not appear, however strong it is.

So a business with six branches is really running six local SEO campaigns that share one brand and one website. Multi location local SEO is the discipline of running them together: consistent data, controlled access, pages that are genuinely different for each branch, and reporting per location rather than one blended number.

Google Business Profile for multiple branches

The rule is one profile per physical address where staff meet customers during the hours shown. Not one per city, not one per service, and not one per doctor unless that doctor sees patients there. Create all profiles inside a single business group in the profile manager so they share ownership and can be exported and edited together.

Each branch profile needs the same primary category as the rest of the chain, its own hours, its own phone number, photos taken at that branch, and a services list that reflects what that branch actually does.

Bulk verification on Google Business for 10 or more locations

Google offers bulk verification when you manage 10 or more locations of the same business. You upload a spreadsheet with a store code, name, address, phone and category for every branch, then submit a bulk verification request with a company contact. Google checks the data against your website and public records and typically replies within one to two weeks.

Below 10 locations, each profile is verified on its own, which in India now usually means a video showing the signboard, the premises and proof that you work there. Use short, stable store codes such as RJK-MAVDI from day one; they become the key that ties the profile export, the location pages and the review tracking together.

Google Business Profile manager access: who should own what

The primary owner of the business group must be a company email address that the business controls, never an agency account, a branch manager or a founder's personal account that may leave with them. Agencies get manager access on the group. Branch staff get manager access on their own location only, so they can update hours and reply to reviews but cannot delete or move a listing.

Review the access list every quarter and remove people who have left. The most expensive problem we see is a chain that cannot edit its own profiles because the only owner resigned two years ago.

Branch reviews management across many locations

Reviews are counted per listing, so 400 reviews at the first branch do nothing for the branch you opened last month. Set a per-branch target, usually 8 to 15 new reviews a month, and make it part of the branch manager's monthly numbers. Put the review link as a QR code at the billing counter and in the invoice WhatsApp message.

Reply from the branch within 48 hours, with the branch name and a detail from the visit. Never offer a discount for a review; it breaks Google's policy and can get the listing suspended.

Separate website per branch or one site?

One website, almost always. Every link and mention a brand earns builds authority on one domain, and every branch page benefits from it. Separate websites split that authority, triple the maintenance, and usually end up as near copies of each other, which Google treats as thin content.

The exceptions are narrow: legally separate franchisees selling different services, operations in different countries, or an acquired brand that keeps its own identity. Even then, a subfolder on the main domain usually beats a second domain.

City pages vs branch pages: what is the difference

A branch page represents a real address with hours, staff and a verified profile. A city page is a service page for a city you serve from elsewhere, such as a Rajkot electrical contractor that takes jobs in Gondal and Jetpur. City pages get no profile, say honestly that you travel there, and carry real local detail: estates served, travel time, projects done.

The mistake is making city pages that pretend to be branches, with a friend's shop or a virtual office as the address. Google suspends those profiles, and the pages rarely rank anyway. Build a city page only where there is real demand and real delivery.

Location pages website structure that Google can crawl

Use a predictable URL pattern such as /locations/rajkot-mavdi/ under a /locations/ index page that lists every branch with a plain HTML link. Link the index from the main navigation or footer on every page, add breadcrumbs, and give each branch page its own LocalBusiness schema with that branch's name, address, phone, hours and map coordinates. The profile should link to the branch page, not the home page.

Local landing page template

A branch page that ranks and converts has the same twelve parts every time. Build them into the template so each new branch is a form to fill.

  1. H1 with the service and the area, for example "Physiotherapy clinic in Mavdi, Rajkot".
  2. Name, address and phone as text, matching the profile character for character.
  3. Opening hours, including the lunch break if the branch closes for one.
  4. An embedded map pinned to the branch, plus a directions link.
  5. 150 to 300 words that could only be written about this branch: the building, the lane, the parking, the landmark.
  6. The services and prices available at this branch, not the chain-wide list.
  7. The branch team with names and roles.
  8. Photos taken at this branch, with descriptive file names.
  9. Three to five reviews from this branch, quoted with permission.
  10. Four to six questions customers of this branch actually ask.
  11. A call button and a WhatsApp link that go to the branch, not head office.
  12. LocalBusiness schema for this branch only.

How many location pages is too many?

One page per real address is never too many: a bank with 300 branches needs 300 pages. The page count becomes a problem only when pages stop being different. Twenty pages for cities you do not serve, or forty pages that differ only in the city name, are doorway pages, and Google either ignores them or marks the whole site down.

The working test: if you cannot write 150 words that are true only of that location, do not publish the page yet.

Store locator SEO and dealer locator page SEO

Most store locators are a map widget loaded by JavaScript, which means Google sees an empty box. Keep the widget, but also render every location as an HTML link to its branch page, so the locator doubles as the index Google crawls.

Dealer locator page SEO is the manufacturer's version of the same problem with one difference: dealers are independent businesses. List each dealer with address, phone and a link to the dealer's own profile, and never create profiles in your brand name at dealer addresses. A well built dealer page for a kitchenware or bearing brand ranks for "brand dealer in Surat" searches and sends the enquiry to the dealer.

NAP consistency across branches

Each branch has its own name, address and phone, and consistency means that branch's details are identical on the profile, the branch page, every directory, the invoice, the social pages and the signboard photo. The usual breaks are a head office phone pasted on every branch, the legal name on one listing and the trade name on another, and three spellings of the same road.

Keep a master sheet with store code, display name, address, pincode, phone, hours, profile link and page link. Any change goes into the sheet first and then out to every listing. When a branch moves, the sheet is the checklist of what must be updated.

Franchise SEO in India and chain of clinics SEO

Franchise SEO in India: who controls what

The franchisor should own the domain, the location page template, the business group, the categories and the brand description. The franchisee gets manager access to its own listing and owns the local work: photos, posts, hours, review replies and local offers. Write this split into the franchise agreement, with a clause that any profile or website created by the franchisee is handed over on exit.

The failure pattern in Indian food, education, salon and pharmacy franchises is a franchisee who creates a second profile and a separate website because head office was slow. A 48-hour turnaround on franchisee requests prevents most of it.

Chain of clinics SEO: doctors, specialities and branches

A clinic chain has three kinds of entity: the branch, the doctor and the speciality. Each branch gets a profile and a branch page. Each regularly consulting doctor can have a practitioner profile tied to the branch where they sit most. Each speciality gets one service page, and the branch pages link to the specialities offered there.

Ask patients to review the branch rather than the doctor; the branch listing is the one that has to rank in the map pack. Keep profile names clean (clinic name plus area), because keyword-stuffed names are the most common reason health profiles get suspended. See our SEO for doctors in Rajkot page for the clinic-specific work.

Multi city business Google ranking: what we have seen in Gujarat

A sanitaryware and tile showroom group with branches in Rajkot, Morbi and Jamnagar came to us with one website, three profiles and the Rajkot phone number on all three. The Morbi page was the Rajkot page with the city name swapped, and a single-outlet showroom in Morbi outranked it. We rebuilt the three branch pages from the template above, gave each branch its own number and 20 fresh photos, and set a review target per branch. The Morbi profile entered the local three pack within ten weeks.

A diagnostics chain with seven centres across Saurashtra had four unverified profiles and three branch managers holding owner access. We moved ownership to a company account, completed video verification, and added one page per centre listing the tests available there. Calls on the branch profiles rose by roughly half within three months while head office calls fell slightly: patients were reaching the centre nearest them.

A kitchenware manufacturer with 120 dealers had a locator that listed only dealer names. Adding address, phone and a short HTML page per dealer produced first-page results for brand plus city searches in 30 cities.

How to decide

Under 10 branches: do it by hand over four weeks, in this order: ownership and access, verification, master NAP sheet, branch pages, reviews. From 10 to 50: bulk verification, a page template filled from the sheet, and a monthly per-branch report. Above 50: a locator fed from a database that also generates the branch pages, and a developer who maintains the template and schema.

If you have three or more addresses and want a fixed quote for structure, verification and branch pages, send your list of locations through the contact page or on WhatsApp.
