What we build with Electron
Electron is how JK Tech Hub builds desktop software for Windows, macOS and Linux from one codebase, using the same React and TypeScript skills as our web work. Desktop projects from Rajkot include:
- POS and billing software for retail counters that must print invoices, read barcode scanners and keep working when the internet drops.
- Offline-first inventory and accounting tools for businesses whose data must stay on their own machines.
- Data entry and back-office applications that replace spreadsheets in factories, clinics and schools, syncing to a central server when connected.
- Desktop companions to SaaS products, giving users a tray icon, notifications and file-system access a browser cannot offer.
- Monitoring dashboards, kiosk apps and hardware control panels that talk to serial devices, printers and weighing scales.
Each application ships with a signed installer for every platform, an auto-update channel, crash reporting and a local database such as SQLite. See the desktop application development service for the full delivery process.
When Electron is the right choice, and when it is not
Electron is the right choice when you need a real installed application with access to files, printers, USB devices and the system tray, and you want it on Windows and macOS without writing it twice. It is the natural path when a web version already exists or is planned, because most of the code is shared. Business tools, POS systems, editors and internal utilities are the sweet spot, and the fact that some of the most-used developer tools in the world run on it settles the performance question for ordinary use.
It is the wrong choice when:
- The application must run on old or very low-memory machines, or must start in under a second. Native toolkits are lighter.
- It is a game or does heavy 3D or video work.
- The app only needs to run in a browser anyway. A web application avoids installers and updates altogether.
- Only one platform matters and a native developer is already on staff.
For Windows-only line-of-business software we sometimes propose a native stack instead; the deciding factors are the hardware it must talk to and who will maintain it.
Cost and timeline for Electron projects
A basic Electron application, meaning a single-purpose desktop tool with a local database and installers for one or two platforms, starts at ₹60,000 and takes four to eight weeks. A standard build such as a POS or billing system with printing, barcode support, offline mode and cloud sync starts at ₹1,75,000 and takes eight to fourteen weeks. Enterprise applications with multiple modules, hardware integrations, licensing and central administration start at ₹5,00,000 and run fourteen to twenty-two weeks.
Desktop projects carry a few costs web projects do not: code-signing certificates for Windows and Apple, testing on the actual hardware and printers your staff use, and an update server. We list these separately in the quote so there are no surprises at release.
All quotes are fixed-price against a signed scope, include three months of bug fixes and OS-compatibility updates after launch, and are issued in your own currency if you are outside India; see our international page.
